Inspired by Traci Brimhall’s project to read a Dickinson poem a day, I thought I’d do the same with Elizabeth Bishop. However, finding myself incapable of a daily blog post, this project transformed over the years. Now it is a slow, not necessarily polished, meditation on Bishop’s Collected Poems. It is a practice in gentle, intentional engagement with a poem at a time. It’s a thing to do when one doesn’t know what to write.
Oh Amie, I so understand this business of being incapable of any one of these things every day. I’d love to take a Bishop Break every day but I can’t manage that kind of discipline. Most days I have the attention span of a gnat.
